We are well on with putting together this year’s Sharrow Festival which takes place this year on Saturday 4th July in Mount Pleasant Park, off London/Abbeydale Rd. Sharrow Festival is a great free community festival that celebrates the rich diversity of the peoples and cultures in Sharrow. We try to provide something for everybody with lots of free children’s activities, workshops, stalls, a Sure Start 0 to 5’s area, great live performances, music from all over the globe, great things to eat and drink, a legal grafitti art zone and everywhere a feast for the eyes and other senses. This year also features a busy Fringe Festival happening all over Sharrow and running from Sat 20th June to Sunday 5th July. The Fringe will be organised by Luisa from Creative Action Network. Luisa played a big part in organising this year’s great Lantern Carnival. More information to come on the Fringe very soon. Sharrow Festival is organised by a group of volunteers who meet in Highfield Trinity Church (near Highfield Library). We are very keen for new people to join us. If you are interested or just want to know more, please call Alan on 07903 949931 or email him at al[AT]jujuclub.co.uk We are also looking for talented, motivated people to offer creative activities like street art, music, dance and performance or to facilitate workshops or display works. For further information on this get in touch with Luisa at sharrowlanterncarnival[AT]hotmail.co.uk We would especially like to hear from anyone who took pictures or video of the festival for inclusion in our 2008 gallery.
